A Yogi Fanatics Guide to Autumn

Although the temperature is still lovely in Delray Beach, there is a crispness in the air that lets you know the seasons are changing. As we begin to transition from the warm summer months and into the slightly cooler winter months, these poses will help keep us balanced and centered amongst the seasonal transformations taking place around us. Childs pose and standing forward fold are perfect for this.

To keep the body active and ensure that blood if slowing freely throughout, incorporate poses that build heat up within you by activating larger muscle groups. Holding chair pose for several breaths helps to fire up your glutes and hamstrings.

Backbends are amazing for a rush of fresh air that will infuse your heart with oxygenated blood. It will also open up your breathing and stimulate your circulatory system – perfect for warding off any seasonal bugs too!

You could also make a super pumpkin smoothie packed with 1 frozen banana, 1/2 cup pumpkin, 1/2 cup of hemp seeds, 2 tbsp of almond butter, 1 cup almond milk, 1 tbsp of coconut oil, and a dash of cinnamon and raw cacao! The combination of healthy and seasonal ingredients is sure to be a tasty and nutritious treat that will improve your mood!

And of course, attending yoga classes always gets our energy up no matter the season! Sign-up for yoga classes online or drop into our Delray Beach yoga studio.
