By being in harmony with nature’s rhythms, we make our body happy and healthy. Self-care is vital for overall well-being, and these Ayurvedic principles will not only make you a better sleeper, but also more mindful and happy!
Sleeping at the same time every day lets your body get into a rhythm and will make it much easier to fall asleep. The best time to sleep is between 6 – 10PM and you should aim for at least 8 hours of sleep. Try your best to keep up the routine on the weekends too!
It’s best to eat your dinner by 6:30-7pm at the latest because as the sun begins to set, our digestive fire cools. Eating early, preferably a light meal in the evening, helps with digestion, which impacts the quality of sleep. Eating free of distraction is also important! It’s best to turn the TV off, silence your phone, and really enjoy your meal.
Does your mind have a hard time “turning off” at night? Pranyama is here to help! Simply practice a few rounds of alternate nostril breathing each day and you’ll soon have a quieter, calmer mind – allowing you to catch those zzz’s even sooner.
Ever notice how while some people leave you feeling warm and fuzzy, others may leave you emotionally drained and upset? In Ayuveda, your health and wellness depends on the balance between mind, body, and spirit. Before bed it’s especially important to be aware of you who are interacting with. This includes on Facebook or text message! Avoid social media, TV, e-mail, and your phone for at least 1-2 hours before heading to bed.
